Purpose
To initiate the suitability assessment procedure for all individuals interested in the national adoption of a minor within our Autonomous Community.

Eligible Beneficiaries
Any natural person with sufficient legal capacity, who is willing to undergo a comprehensive evaluation of their social and psychological circumstances to ensure a reliable assessment of their suitability to adopt a child or a sibling group. Applicants must also be willing to participate in preparatory and training sessions aimed at ensuring appropriate care for the child.

Requirements
Applicants requesting a suitability assessment for adoption must meet the following requirements at the time of submitting their application:
- Have habitual and legal residence within the territorial scope of the Autonomous Community of Extremadura.
- Not have been deprived of parental authority, nor have had its exercise suspended, nor have entrusted the custody of their child to any public institution.
- Be legally qualified to act as a guardian, in accordance with Articles 241 and subsequent of the Spanish Civil Code.
- Have attended the information and preparation sessions, where applicable, organized by the Directorate-General responsible for child protection. In the case of a second or subsequent application, this requirement is waived provided no more than five years have passed since the applicant completed the previous training.
- At least twenty-four months must have elapsed since the day following the notification of the resolution ending the previous assessment procedure for reasons other than a declaration of suitability, except in cases where the applicants have previously adopted a child who is a sibling of another eligible for adoption, or where the applicants have previously fostered the child for whom the adoption process is being initiated.
- Not currently be undergoing a suitability assessment for foster care as a non-relative family.

Required Documentation
Mandatory documentation
- An updated passport-sized photograph of each applicant.
- As applicable, a literal marriage certificate issued by the Civil Registry or, in the case of common-law couples, a certificate from the common-law couples registry under the competent Ministry of this Autonomous Community.
- In the case of a single-parent family application, a certificate of life and status.
- Copy of the Family Book or individual registration certificate.
- Medical report on the physical and mental health of the applicants and other members who live permanently in the family unit, specifying whether they suffer from any chronic or serious infectious or contagious disease, debilitating and/or degenerative, or stating that they do not have any disabling addictions or illnesses that, due to their characteristics or progression, could affect the applicants' daily activities. This report must specifically include the diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis.
Copy of the health card or document that proves health coverage. - Company certificate specifying the professional category, seniority, and salary of each applicant
- If applicable, a photocopy of the applicant(s) latest payroll.
- Simple note from the Property Registry regarding the family home or a valid document proving the enjoyment of the home.
Furthermore, if you have not expressly authorized its consultation ex officio:
- Photocopy of the ID of each applicant
- Certificate of registration of the applicants
- Certificate of criminal record for sexual offenses of each applicant
- Criminal Record Certificate of each applicant
- Latest Personal Income Tax Return of the applicants
